The Ford Cougar was a short lived attempt at a coupe by Ford. Following on from the successful Ford Capri of the 60's/70's/80's and less successful Ford Probe (Mazda) 1993 - 1997 (Europe) the Cougar was introduced in the European market in 1998. The Cougar was based on the successful Ford Mondeo of the day with the same 2.0L and 2.5l engines. Only built for a few years the Cougar ceased production when the new MKIII Mondeo was introduced in 2001/2002.
